For years the possibility of new and expanded pipelines running across BC have raised questions related to First Nations land rights, coastal tanker traffic, and the nature of inter-provincial relationships. Underlying these questions, however, has always been the larger question of why we are continuing to invest in fossil fuel infrastructure at all given our international climate commitments. Join our panel of experts as they examine the economic, environmental, and public policy ramifications of the recent approvals.

A Whole New World – Seeing the world through smart apps

Suicide Prevention Services (SPS) assists elderly individuals who may suffer from a negative mindset, and may feel disconnected from their families or the world at large. One cause of this disconnection may be a result of older individuals being unfamiliar or uncomfortable with modern communication technologies such as smartphones and apps. Join alumni UBC Hong Kong volunteers for an interactive workshop (in Cantonese) where UBC alumni will help small groups of elderly people, selected by SPS, experience the possibilities brought about by smartphones and apps.
